JUNIOR  CHAMPIONSHIPS 18th TO 23rd AUGUST

I want to thank the 103 Juniors for playing in this years junior championships. This is our largest number yet. I hope everyone enjoyed the week as much as Nicole and I did.
I also wish to thank Nicole for all her invaluable help for the week and Anne Tweedy for all the work on the tournament software. Thank you to Karen Geraghty for arranging the BBQ with Sarah Robson and her family. That was a super sold out success.
Thanks to all the junior umpires who helped with the U10 matches during that week and to all the 21 people who umpired on finals day.  We are currently working on a junior album to record what a great day our finals day was. Thanks to Seamie Mac Kenna for doing all the work on the photos. Karen

UPDATE FROM HEAD COACH STEPHEN

Big congrats to Rosie Kennedy on winning the U/16 Singles Title at the

Irish Junior Championships of Ireland played in Fitzwilliam last week.

A super achievement, Rosie.

Richie won the U/12 doubles title - another great win Richie to add to your achievements this year.    The club is so proud of you both!

The Junior Championship Finals Day last Saturday showed what talent we have at Junior level.  The standard right through the week was top quality and well done to all who entered the various events.

The sportsmanship & camaraderie shown across the board was very evident.

The Club Championships are heading towards their conclusion with Finals Day tomorrow - Mixed Final to be played tonight.

Again the standard of the matches has been really high and the Juniors who entered certainly added to the competitive element of the tournament & have performed really well.

Here's to a great Finals Day tomorrow.

It's been a very successful year on the circuit for the club.

The big news of course was Conor Gannon turning professional and then going on to win his first ITF event - The Irish Open - last month in Carrickmines.  A massive achievement.

Continued success Conor & looking forward to seeing you down in the club soon again.

Well done to all our Juniors who played in many of the open tournaments throughout the summer with much success.

It's been a super summer for all you Juniors - I hope you'll continue to play throughout the winter - sign up for coaching - and come back even better players next summer!

Any coaching queries give me a buzz

Back to school time - the term will fly by!

All   the  best        Stephen
