MLTC NEWSLETTER 12th June 2026
TENNIS 4 CANCER EVENT
Handbags and Gladrags tournament!
We had a wonderful day on Sunday – the Child of Prague did its job and despite a terrible forecast the rain held off!
48 ladies contested a most enjoyable team tournament won by Team Miriam (Captain Ger Speer) who narrowly defeated Team Marie (captain Jana Stevenson) in a close final.
This was followed by the presentation by Grace Owens (founder of Tennis4Cancer charity) and a fabulous lunch provided by generous participating volunteers.
The real highlight though was the clothes sale! Beautifully run by Rachael & Nicola Mullett and Claire McCambridge. We had a steady stream of happy customers looking fabulous in preloved glamorous donated items.
A close second was the raffle, where the first prize of a Pamela Scott Voucher, generously donated by Scott Barron was won by a friend of Jennifer Byrne.
We are delighted to say that over €7k was raised and we hope to get that match funded to bring in a total of €14k – absolutely wonderful 👏👏👏
Huge thanks to all who helped – too many to mention but a great demonstration of club and community spirit!!

LADIES’ EVENTS
Ladies’ Summer League 2026
With our final week of Summer League just coming to a close we are awaiting all final results to come in before we review our progress across the tournament.
Again great team spirit and determination displayed across the teams this week and we truly appreciate everyones effort in committing to playing League for the club. It sometimes involves long journeys with equally long evenings and with work and family schedules this can sometimes be difficult to achieve so we do really appreciate everyones huge efforts.
We are looking through all the results and our ladies player (s) of the tournament will be announced over the coming week 🏆
