SENIOR NEWS
Senior Championship 2026
Entries are now open for the forthcoming club Senior Championships and will close this Sunday 9th August at midnight.
Please get your entries in on time so we can run the draws and get the schedules out efficiently in advance of the first weekend on play starting on Friday 14th August.
Please note all unavailability rules as scheduling will be tight and unavailabilities won’t be accepted at a later date.
2 unavailabilities ( per pairing for doubles) allowed from Friday 14th to Sunday 23rd inc (exc. Sat 22).
No unavailabilities from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th August
Our Annual ‘At Home’ Finals Prize giving evening event will be held this year in 'The Loft' at the Purty Kitchen, Dunlaoghaire on Saturday 29th August.
Full details to follow with booking information next week.. promises to be a fun night, drinks reception, three course meal and live music.🎶

Ladies Senior League (O35s and O60s)
Signup for ladies Senior League O35s closes tonight. Please sign up using the attached form. Teams will be announced w/c 14th August 2026.
The Round Robin Matches will be played on Sundays 30/08, 06/09, 13/09, 20/09 and 27/09. Matches will be at 9am or 11am.

SUPERVISED TENNIS SUMMER SCHEDULE
Summer Supervision continues next week –
Monday to Friday 11-1, 2-4 (members only)
Next week will be the last of the summer supervision as none on during the Junior Championships - Cost is €10 per week or part thereof.
Now open to book on Easy Payments.

MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings
Men’s morning takes place at the usual time of 10am-12 this Sunday, courts 4 & 5, followed by a cuppa, of course - All standards welcome!
CLUB NIGHT
Club Night - Thursdays at 8pm. Open to all Senior members, all standards – everyone welcome.
Stephen will get things started with some games and coaching tips!

UPDATE FROM HEAD COACH STEPHEN
CONOR GANNON - IRISH OPEN CHAMPION 2026!
What more can be said about Conor!
He won his first Singles title on the ITF Men's Tour with a brilliant win at the Irish Open, played in Carrickmines last week.
Conor, who was unseeded, defeated four seeds (#2, #3, #5,& #7) en route to his maiden Tour title.
In his first round match Conor saved 5 match points in a thrilling display of courage, resilience and self belief.
This win is just the start of the next phase of Conor's professional career.
It was great to see so many Monkstown LTC members in the stands at Carrickmines all week, supporting Conor on his historic journey to his first career win at this level.
We're all super proud of you, Conor, and wish you continued success.
Huge congrats to Mary O'Callaghan who won the Ulster Junior Tour 1250
U/18 singles title, played in the Belfast Boat Club last week. A great reward for all your hard work Mary!
Last week saw another big win for Rosie Kennedy – this time the U/18 title at Clontarf – Well Done again Rosie!
Malahide is the tournament venue this week...best of luck to those who have entered in the lead up to the big one next week - The Junior Lawn Tennis Championships of Ireland in Fitzwilliam.
A new format this year where the U/14 - U/18 events are played next week.
Best of luck to Mary - Sean - Rosie - Richie - Harry - Sam - Grace – Sarah - Zach & Mia.
The U/12 & U/16 events are being played the following week.
Big events coming up for our 2 Sarahs (Mc Auley & Healy)
The 2026 Hockey World Cup is in Wavre, Begium and features Sarah Mc Auley. The Irish hockey team fly out this Friday. Their first World Cup match is on Sunday 16th v Spain followed by 2 further group games v New Zealand & Belgium - and then the all important playoff matches.
All matches will be available to watch on the RTE player or online on the Watch Ireland Hockey App. Very best of luck Sarah!
Sarah Healy will compete in the European Athletics Championships to be held in Birmingham From 10 - 16 August. Sarah has made the interesting decision to add the 5000m race with the 1500m race. She enters the Europeans in top form - fingers crossed and good luck for a super performance, Sarah. There will be live coverage on RTE 2.
Hard to believe the second last camp is next week...hope you've signed up..interesting tips for the Junior Championships will feature!
Deadline for entries to the Senior Championships is next Sunday - don't be hesitant about entering - be part of the highlight event of the year!
