MLTC Club Notices 24/04/2026
MLTC NEWSLETTER 24th APRIL 2026
Book in on Payzone for Junior Coaching now – Booking will close at 12noon today! New term starts next week.
MALE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We hope you are all enjoying the new tennis courts!
We are currently looking for as many male members as possible to volunteer to assist with our club lock-up rota. This involves helping to ensure the clubhouse and grounds are properly secured at the end of the day (Monday to Thursday only) on a rotating basis.
The commitment is minimal, and the more volunteers we have, the lighter the load for everyone. It’s a great way to support the smooth running of the club and contribute to our community.
If you are willing to take part or would like more information about what’s involved, please reply to this email or ring the office.
We welcome your assistance with this!
COURTS UPDATE
Dear Members
It is good to see the courts back open and members taking full advantage of all the courts, I hope you will all agree that the club is looking well and that a return to normal for both access and playing a week early is a real positive. We were even able to ensure the grass was cut in time for the reopening of the courts on Saturday afternoon, thanks (and welcome) to David, our new Groundsman.
A few elements to update you on as we look to finish the project in the next few weeks:
• We have now selected the additional court side equipment and the following elements will be sourced and installed in the next few weeks:
o seating for each court (other than Court 5) and additional shoe brushes for each entrance / exit to the courts and club house
o 6 additional line brushes so that there will 2 per court (based on member feedback)
o new green wind screens for all of the fences
• We will paint the bench seating on Court 3, a dark green to blend in with the fencing and wind screens
• One of the new gates to Court 2 was not completed in time, is currently being manufactured and will be installed as part of the next steps
• A snagging review of the new courts will take place once the sand has settled and play has further compacted the court over the next few weeks (a normal part of the installation process) – if you notice anything in particular you would like to flag to the courts committee or through the office please let us know and we will include the review
• Access to parking in the lane is now available again
Reminder:
• Please familiarise yourself with the brushing etiquette and technique outlined in our Courts bulletin last Friday
• Captains Noreen and Bill will host a courts event on Thursday 30 April, with the Coaches and senior players, utilising all 6 courts - an opportunity to brush up on new skills for these courts, more details to follow but perhaps put this in your diaries
Thanks again to our fantastic Courts Committee for the amount of time they continue to give to this project – much appreciated.
From Margaret Quinn (Club President) and the courts subcommittee (Kevin Polley, Helen Bunbury, Jemma Houlihan, Fiona O’ Sullivan, and Declan Cotter).

THE RESET PROCESS - A MENTAL GAME WORKSHOP
In preparation for Summer League, last night we were delighted to welcome Yvonne Doyle, Tennis and Mindset coach to deliver her ‘ The Reset Process’ workshop. It was an interactive session equipping players with easy to apply techniques to manage nerves, improve concentration and develop routines on and off the court.
The workshop was very well attended by thirty six of our members who all found the evening to be very informative and enjoyable. Many thanks to Yvonne for taking time out to come to MLTC.
