LADIES EVENTS
LADIES WINTER LEAGUE
The winter league teams are up on the notice board; I want to apologise in advance to those who didn’t get what they had requested, it has been seriously oversubscribed.
As the teams have been selected early, the fixtures are not up on the website yet, so stay tuned, the league starts on Sunday January 25th . The team captain will do a follow-up with you regarding league coaching.
WINTER BOX CHALLENGE
The box challenge has finished, congratulations to all who got to play your games despite the weather and hard luck to this who had to withdraw. We had very close results, there was a tie within 3 boxes and I am glad to announce the winners.
Your prizes are in with Carol for collection!
Finally, I’d like to wish you all a very happy Christmas with your family and friends, enjoy the rest, the merriment and the odd glass of wine. See you all in 2026 - Colette

UPDATE FROM STEPHEN
Hard to believe this is my last 'Update' of 2025!
As we come to the end of the tennis year it is worth noting the significance of Conor Gannon joining the professional ranks in 2025.
Next month he starts his first full year on the pro tour and we remain fully behind his professional journey.
Monkstown members have been hugely generous in their support of Conor in recent months.
In February he will hope to be involved in Ireland's Davis Cup match against Syria in Limerick.
Hoping to follow in his footsteps, young Richie Kennedy was selected on the Ireland U/11 team, who won the Limburg International Cup against the Netherlands - Belgium and Finland.
Congrats Richie!...super performance.
Robyn Kennedy was selected on the U/14 Leinster team - and Leinster won the Interpros. Great performance Robyn.
Lisa O'Shea and George McGill were selected to play for Ireland in the Potter Cup in Barcelona. A big honour - well done guys!
Pat Cowley was selected for Ireland in the Vets Internationals -- and Pat & Terri Corbett were selected for Leinster in the Vets Inter Pros. Congrats Ladies!
On the domestic front we had a very active and successful year - we actually featured in the playoff stages of all the various leagues we participated in. A great achievement.
Our Juniors also did very well in their various age group leagues.
Many of our Juniors entered Open tournaments with very encouraging results.
The Club Championships - well done to Mary O'Callaghan and David Cullen - our 2025 Champions - and the Handicap events also proved very popular with our members, along with the various social tennis events.
Our thanks to our Captains', Dermot and Colette, for their huge commitment throughout the year.
I can't finish without sending huge congrats to our own Sarah McAuley on winning her 50th Cap as a hockey International last weekend.
What a weekend of high class International hockey you played Sarah - cool pic on the front page of the Irish Times!!
Our other prominent Sarah - Sarah Healy - is a nominee as one of the 12 RTE 'Sportsperson of the Year' award (along with Rory McIlroy and Troy Parrott) which will be announced at an award ceremony on RTE 1 next Saturday the 20th.
Sarah won a gold medal in the 3000m at the European Indoor Championships , while also securing her first Diamond League victory and a place in the final of the same event at the World Athletics Championships. Fingers crossed, Sarah!
Finally, don't forget to fill that Christmas stocking with a coaching voucher to help start the new tennis year as you mean to go on!
Pay for a Coaching session on Payzone and collect a Voucher from the office, - but feel free to contact me on 086 8391472 for more details.
It just leaves me to thank you for your support throughout the last year and to wish all of you a very "Happy Christmas" and good health and lots of tennis for 2026!
Nollaig shona daoibh! Stephen
