MLTC NEWSLETTER  9th October 2025

 

All the leagues we are currently playing in:  Mens Senior, Ladies Senior, Mens Floodlight, Ladies Floodlight, Ladies O60s,  Boys U18, Girls U18, Boys U14, Girls U14, Boys & Girls U12,  Boys & Girls U10, Stars & Stripes – What a busy club we are!

HALLOWEEN TENNIS CAMPS

Tuesday 28th  to  Friday 31st  October

Age 6 to 8 years,   10am – 12noon 

Age 9 to 12 years, 12noon to 2pm

Booking now open on Easy Payments!

If your child is bringing a friend to camp please book the friend in on Easy Payment under the Bring a Friend selection.  We will then send you a form which it is necessary for the friend’s parent to fill out for insurance purposes.

 

 

LADIES EVENTS

SENIOR LEAGUE

Team 8 in the Senior League had their play-offs last Sunday, unfortunately, the matches didn’t go their way.  Congratulations to the team on their successful campaign and their many wins. 

OVER 60S LEAGUE

Team 2 topped their table, received a bye this week and are playing in the semifinals next Wednesday – a home match against Stackallen at 11am.

Congratulations to Captain Karen Ivory and team Fionnuala Duddy, Ursula O’Connell, Martina Keevey, Terri Corbett, Anne Tynan, Joan Quealy, Eleanor O’Mahony, Helen Lane, Siobhan Coburn and Carmel Buckley. The very best of luck in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Your support in these play-offs will be very much appreciated.

 

FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE

The Floodlight league teams are playing very challenging matches with great results, tight games and super tennis by all 3 teams.

Next week’s home games are:

-          Monkstown 1 vs Rathgar – Captained by Elizabeth McGee

-          Monkstown 3 vs Carraig at 7pm – Captained by Millie Aherne

WINTER BOX CHALLENGE

Closing date for the box Challenge is this weekend, so get registering!!!!

The box teams will be posted by October 16th. 

All matches NEED TO BE PLAYED BY December 14th.  All new members welcome, if you have any questions, feel free to contact Colette

 

LADIES AUTUMN CHARITY LEAGUE

The charity league is underway with first week’s matches having been played.

Monday non league, captained by Maeve Curtin.  Monday league, captained by Elaine O’Toole.  Tuesday league team1, captained by Jo Farrelly,  Tuesday league team2, captained by Clodagh Kenny.

WEDNESDAY LADIES MORNING TENNIS

Please note ladies that the tennis will be from 9am to 11am as there are League matches.

Please come along to join your host Angela Corkery for tennis coffee and chat🎾🎾☕🍰

 

  

MEN’S EVENTS

MEN’S SENIOR LEAGUE – DLTC

Good luck to our first and third teams who are into the senior league play-offs this week-end. 

1st team: home to Glenageary @ 1.30 Sunday 12th (semi-final)

3rd team: away to Lansdowne @ 1.30 Saturday 11th (quarter-final)

 

MEN’S FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE – DLTC

Round 3 of the flood light league next Monday 13th Oct will all three teams going well:

1st team (class 1): home to Shankill @ 7pm

2nd team (class 2): home to Wicklow Town @ 7pm

3rd team (class 6): away to Sandycove @ 8.15pm   

Plenty of home matches, so come along and support the teams !

 

MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings

Men’s Morning will be at the usual time of 10am to 12 noon this week. 

Thank you for your patience during the Senior League!  Do come along for tennis, coffee and chats.

 

 

CLUB NIGHT

Come and join us for Club Night tonight - any time between 8pm and 10pm.  Stephen will kick things off with some fun drills/games at 8pm.

 

   

UPDATE  FROM  STEPHEN

More recognition for Monkstown members with the selection of Lisa (O'Shea) and George (Mc Gill) to the Potter Cup team.

 The Potter Cup is an International Premier team event for Senior players and is held annually in Barcelona, Spain.

 The date for this year's event is the 15th - 18th October.

 Very best of luck, Lisa & George ....we know you'll do your country ( & MLTC!) proud  

 Well done and Best of luck to the qualifying teams of Senior League and Ladies O60’s League.   Supporters welcome!

 Although at the early stages yet,  The Ladies Charity League teams are progressing well.

 On the Junior front the U/14 & U 18 leagues are reaching the end of their campaign with just one match to go next Sunday.

 The Girls U/14 top their section...well done girls ..keep it going for the last match so you qualify for the playoffs.

 All to play for in the U18 Girls  - & U/14 - U/18 boys for their last matches.

 Don't forget to sign up for the Halloween Camps - Tues 28th - Fri 31st Oct

 Ages:  6 - 8 years  10am - 12noon.   9 - 12 years  12noon - 2pm. 

Should be fun.
