HEAD COACH STEPHEN’S UPDATE

With Wimbledon in full swing,  tennis is very much centre stage for the next two weeks.

What a match Dimitrov played yesterday to beat the no 15 seed - the hugely talented Mensik.

No doubt Dimitrov benefitted from his match against our own hero, Conor, in Elm Park two weeks ago!!  His slice was as evident yesterday as it was against Conor!   An interesting round of 32 beckons for him against Berrettini. 🤞

Mary O'Callaghan won through qualifying to make the Main draw of the 2026 J60 Naas ITF World Juniors Tour - super achievement Mary.

She had a tough 1st round match - but was only pipped 7/5 in the final set - great performance , Mary.

Last Friday saw the club host an U/14 Leinster Girls Matchplay event.  Incredibly, the first four places went to Monkstown players – Well Done to those who competed: Isabella, Holly, Lauren, Roisín and Lea.

A Junior Tour 100 event is being held in Naas this week where Hugo Moroney & Zach O'Rourke are playing.  Good luck guys.

Greystones is the venue this weekend for the South Leinster Junior Tour 100 where 11 of our Juniors are competing.  Very best of luck to you all!

Back to Wimbledon. No doubt some of you will be making the trip over - have fun and enjoy.    Johnny & Ciara had a cool meeting yesterday with their hero Pat Cash.

The first tennis Camp this week was enjoyed by all - lots of tactics in a fun atmosphere.

 Next Camp - 13th - 17th July.....sign up!

  All  the  best          Stephen

Representing you the members of M.L.T.C.  I attended The Tennis Leinster AGM in May in Elm Park.   Myself and Bryan O ‘Neill (Trustee) attended the Tennis Ireland AGM last week in Castleknock tennis club – a happy coincidence as we were able to support our men’s 4ths team!  This AGM was preceded by a series of informative talks.   In February we were represented at the DLTC AGM in Elm Park by our then Hon. Secretary Lisa O’Sullivan.  We will keep members up to date of any relevant matters arising from such meetings.

Congratulations to the men’s 4th team on reaching the DLTC Summer league final. We are very proud of you all.

Good luck to everyone competing in the forthcoming Junior and Senior Handicaps with thanks to all of those involved in organising the events.  Enjoy the tennis.

Margaret Quinn

President.

Sincere condolences to Anne Dalton on the death of her loving husband Paul who died earlier this week.

We are all thinking of you and the family at this time.
