PROGRESS OF COURTS CONSTRUCTION WORKS
New Tennis Courts - Latest News
I am delighted to share with you that the installation of our new tennis courts is progressing extremely well. At a macro level, the project remains within budget and ahead of schedule. This is a hugely significant and positive development for the club.
Key updates / changes for members:
• Exciting news from the contractor is that courts 4, 5, and 6 will be available for play from 6pm this evening (Thursday April 9th) - several days ahead of schedule.
• The contractor has today begun work on courts 2 and 3.
• Those of you who have already booked courts 2 and 3 for matches will now pivot to courts 4 and 5 respectively.
• The court booking system has been updated to reflect the availability of courts 4, 5, and 6 from tonight at 6pm (subject to the usual time restrictions).
• Court 1 is almost complete however it will initially be required to help the contractor with access to / from courts 2 and 3 before completion.
• We are looking to complete the work one week ahead of schedule and as a result the contractor will work this Saturday from 7am to 2pm (April 11) and again next weekend (Saturday April 18). The club will be closed to the members during these times (and for the avoidance of doubt, during the week until 6pm akin to the existing arrangements). Sincere apologies to those of you who have already booked courts this Saturday morning. We have contacted all relevant members to confirm the changes and thank you for your understanding.
General Courts:
• For those members starting to play on the new courts, according to the manufacturer and the contractor, the new courts will take a period of time for the sand to bed in, please be patient at the beginning.
• We are meeting this evening with the Club Captains and Court Committee to review and plan other upgrades for the new courts, and facilitate the increasing access over the next couple weeks - more to come on this soon.
Stephen O'Shea will host club-nite this evening on the new courts. Please do come along and join Stephen to be the first at MLTC to play on our new Advantage Clay tennis courts! Super exciting times for MLTC.
Kind regards,
Margaret Quinn (President- MLTC) on behalf of the Executive Committee
